Diaz to Atlanta

The Pirates traded Matt Diaz to the Braves for a PTBNL or cash considerations. Diaz hit .259/.303/.324 in 231 plate appearances this year. He was signed this year to provide a needed power boost against left-handed pitchers. Matt obviously failed this task, as he failed to hit a home run all year with the Pirates. Trading Diaz will open up a roster spot on the 40-man roster. I believe Matt asked for a trade after seeing this picture of him.

Recap: Happy One-Year Anniversary to Matt Diaz

Pirates lose 7-4
WP: Wandy Rodriguez (10-9)
LP: Jason Grilli (1-1)
S: Mark Melancon (15)

I would like to congratulate Matt Diaz for going a full year (365 days) without hitting a home run. He should celebrate, celebrate some more, and then retire from baseball. Anyways the Pirates gave away the game tonight against the Astros, striking out a season-high 16 times. Wandy Rodriguez spun a good game as he struck out the side twice and fanned 13 batters for his 10th double-digit strikeout game of his career.

Pathetic, I mean pathetic record. Also, Jason Grilli should not be running his mouth after his performance tonight. Douche move.

3 Stars:
3) Andrew McCutchen (1-3, HR, 2 RBI)
2) Jose Altuve (3-5, RBI)
1) Carlos Lee (2-3, HR, 3 RBI)

LVP: Jose Veras (0.2 IP, HR, 2 RBI)

The Astros have won 5 of their last 6 home games. Watch out.
