Grilli gives up four in the 8th, Pirates lose 10-4

It was all shaping up to be a great finish tonight for the Bucs at PNC Park. Heading into the 7th inning down one, Starling Marte absolutely crushed a ball into the bushes to tie the game at 3-3. A Travis Snider single and an Andrew McCutchen double later left the Bucs in business to cash in and take the lead late in the game. D'backs manager Kirk Gibson then decided to intentionally walk PH Garrett Jones, and the Pirates had the bases loaded with no outs for Neil Walker. Neil gave the Bucs the lead on a sac fly to left that was just barely deep enough to score Snider from 3rd base, giving the Bucs a 4-3 lead heading into the top of the 8th. Then disaster struck.
Setup man Jason Grilli came in looking for a crisp 1-2-3 inning, but he was far from it. His troubles started by giving up a leadoff double to Paul Goldschmidt, and then a single to Justin Upton. Miguel Montero singled to right, scoring Goldschmidt and tied the game at 4-4. Then Pirate-killer Chris Johnson came to the plate, and sure enough, he killed us. His three-run shot to deep left-center field put the Snakes up for good at 7-4, silencing the Tuesday-night crowd of 22,655 at PNC. Grilli clearly wasn't wired.
Luckily, the Pirates didn't lose any ground in the division or wild card race, as both the Braves and Reds lost. Huge game tomorrow, Bucs need to bounce back with a win. Also, Kevin Correia makes a spot-start tomorrow night, and he's won his last five starts.
